Project Silas

This is a story that has bounced around in my head for a few years now. I have always wanted to write it and never taken the time. I have the outline now, a roadmap to it all and hope this prompt me to keep going with it all until I am done. I will be doing it blog style, writing when the words appear and letting it ferment when they don't. I hope you enjoy it, look at the publish dates for the order. I probably need to add post numbers. We will see.

Beyond The Harvest

We are inefficient engines. For all of human history, our survival has depended on a fragile chain: sunlight grows the plant, the plant stores the energy, we eat the plant. We are trapped by the harvest, bound to the soil, and at the mercy of a climate that is turning against us.

But what if we could cut out the middleman?

Project Silas is the story of a near-future world on the brink of collapse and the one man arrogant enough to think he can rewrite the laws of biology to save it. Dr. Henry Silas Shepherd doesn’t want to fix the food supply. He wants to end our reliance on it.

Evolution takes millions of years. Dr. Shepherd plans to do it in a single generation. But when you rewrite the code of humanity, you can’t always predict what the new program will do.
